 WANDERING WITH THE WRIGHTS

APRIL 16, 2021

Happy Spring!!  We are still in Benson, AZ but  heading out Tuesday.  We will arrive in Illinois mid-May and have some fun stops planned on our way back.

The park we are at has tried really hard and successfully to keep things fun and entertaining in-spite of the pandemic.

The Mardi Gras Parade had a lot of participants

Little hard to see put this golf cart is pulling an alligator :-)

Masks were still mandatory

And of course there were lots of beads thrown and moon pies!

Another shot of the aligator

Music was also part of the celebration

Even dogs joined the celebration

We took a drive to Chiricahua National Monument

This park was established in 1924 to protect the extensive hoodoos and balancing rocks (a hoodoo is a tall this spire of rock the protrudes from the bottom of a basin.

Yep that's snow

Pictures don't do justice to how beautiful the drive was

Okay this is a terrible picture but wanted to acknowledge our friends Ken & Candi were in the area and stopped by.  It was wonderful to see them and to catch up.

They brought us this delightful planter of succulents

Poor Teddy had to have some teeth pulled and some benign growths removed.  He recovered quickly and is eating better so those teeth much have really bothered him -

One of our neighbors painted this gorgeous mural on her 5th wheel

We both received our Moderna shots - glad it is done before we start traveling.
Appreciate AZ being so willing to vaccinate non-residents.

I have mentioned before that we are volunteering at a local food pantry one or two days a week.  Normally the weather is fine but this particular Wednesday it was cold, windy and even had a little sleet.
One of our co-workers get up gives you an idea as to how chilly it was.

This is the first year we have stayed so late in the year in Benson - in-spite of the severe draught we have really enjoyed seeing the cactus bloom - we saw this beauty one day

And this was the next day

Jerry painted the trim on our casita - the white really made it pop - Great job J

If you look to the left at the tire you will see Jerry's leg - he is under the coach working on the hydraulic jacks - a little further left you can see Teddy underneath supervising -
SO grateful Jerry is as handy as he is!!

Sometimes takes a while to change the bed when one has help - LOL

Kitty and John Hahn have been our bubble buddies since we arrived last fall.  We have shared Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner with them and here we are celebrating John's birthday.

Couldn't end a blog without a picture of Vincent -
he is playing with one of his Easter presents from Nana and Grandpa

So that pretty well brings you up to date on what we have been doing.  As I mentioned we leave here Tuesday and will be visiting cliff dwellings in New Mexico, sightseeing and visiting friends near Austin, Texas, getting the coach serviced in Alabama and visiting family in Ohio as well as visiting the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum - YEAH - feel comfortable traveling again.

Love and Blessings to you and yours, Carol & Jerry
